Simon Taylor, Managing Director at Ferrier Pearce
We are proud to announce a new addition to the Ferrier Pearce team, Simon Taylor, who joined us as our Managing Director in November 2017. Simon has enjoyed a career that has seen him in senior roles at some of the industry’s largest and most successful names and we couldn’t be happier to welcome him to the team.
We asked a few questions to get inside the mind of the man himself.
How would you describe your day job to a child?
I work with a team that helps to make potentially complex messages straightforward and easy to understand, to all types of people.
What do you hope to bring to Ferrier Pearce?
I want to challenge the status quo and to bring my experience from outside pensions and benefits to this category, which really needs messages simplified if it’s going to get cut-through and impact the audience.
What is the most important trend you see today in marketing and communications?
Things are moving away from straightforward two-dimensional written words and are becoming much more three-dimensional. By that I mean, people are interacting with brands, they have user experiences online, and so are more deeply engaged and loyal.
Do you have a personal philosophy/ mantra?
Everything is possible.
What are you listening to/ reading at the moment?
I’m re-reading Joseph Pine’s 'Mass Customization', which is particularly relevant when you think of products and brands in the financial services sector, that have historically used mass communications, that now need to be personalised if they are going to stand out and be relevant to their audience.
What are you doing when you are not working?
Swimming, model making, and watching my son play football.
If you could go back in time and speak to yourself at age 13, what would you say?
Start saving now- it’s never too early to start saving.
You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What colour would you be and why?
Purple. It is a fusion of red for energy and blue for a sense of calm and order.
